"All that we are is the result of what we have thought." ~ The Buddha
Health and wellness...
...have fascinated me for most of my adult life. I overcame my own health concerns by turning to alternative and holistic remedies when western medicine and practitioners failed me (and many of my loved ones) time and time again. I was able to heal my mysterious and dangerously high blood pressure, frequent headaches, persistent stiff neck, and post-Lyme's Disease related body trauma by researching, experimenting, and making simple, lasting changes in my diet, lifestyle, and thought process.
In my own experiences and in the lives of others, I have observed the profound link between how we think, what we eat, and our overall health and happiness. It really is as simple as we wish it was. As a Certified Holistic Health Coach, I find great pleasure in helping other individuals and groups find lasting ways to help themselves feel good and enjoy life to the fullest.
I am available in person or by telephone to work with individual and group clients in the area of general health and wellness, and also focus on specific concerns with clients such as weight loss, body image, energy and motivation, mood issues, sugar addiction, children's health, stress management, relationships, career, food, and food cravings and addictions.
I received my training to practice Holistic Health Coaching at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in New York City, the world's largest nutrition school, in partnership with the State University of New York Purchase College, and am board certified by the American Association of Drugless Practitioners. My education has equipped me with extensive knowledge in holistic nutrition, health coaching, and preventative health. During my two year program, I studied over 100 different dietary theories, combining the knowledge of ancient and traditional philosophies with modern concepts, practical lifestyle management techniques, and cutting-edge coaching methods.
I am honored to have studied under many of my own personal heroes, amazing and well-known health and wellness professionals such as Mark Hyman, MD; Andrew Weil, MD; John Douillard, PhD; Deepak Chopra, MD; Walter Willett, MD; Marion Nestle, PhD, MPH; Sally Fallon; Howard Lyman; Annemarie Colbin, PhD; Lynn Goldstein, MS, RD, CDN; Paul Pitchford, MS; Neal Barnard, MD; David Katz, MD; and many other leading researchers and nutrition authorities. The progressive Integrative Nutrition school of thought is right up my alley and I feel very much at home in the company of colleagues, students, and faculty as we work together to change the world for the better.
I currently live in Connecticut with my three sons and our cats and fish (housed separately!). In addition to my work as a Health Coach, I have worked for a non-profit organization which houses low-income Senior Citizens since 2001, currently serving as Director of Marketing and Finance. In my free time, I enjoy adventures with my children, yoga, nature hiking, biking, skiing, gardening, reading, music, films and theater, museums, travel and exploring, healthy living, volunteering, and researching. I'm quite a culture junkie and I find people and life endlessly fascinating. I love to learn about all ways of living, history, spirituality, and traditions. I believe that we all create our own reality, whether we like it or not, and I very much enjoy playing with that concept!
